Young woman dies of altitude sickness while collecting Yarsagumba
According to ward chair Narsingh Bista, 22-year-old Bista died after reaching the ridge above Laini in Kaike Rural Municipality, Dolpa.
KATHMANDU: Jamuna Bista, a resident of Gotamkot in Aathbiskot Municipality-4, Rukum West, died on Monday due to altitude sickness while collecting Yarsagumba in Dolpa.
According to ward chair Narsingh Bista, 22-year-old Bista died after reaching the ridge above Laini in Kaike Rural Municipality, Dolpa.
She had fallen ill due to altitude sickness after arriving at Naure in Dolpa to collect Yarsagumba.
“She was returning home with her sister and brother-in-law, who were with her to collect Yarsagumba, when she fell ill on the way and passed away,” said ward chair Bista.
“With the help of the Armed Police Force, her body was brought to Dolpa District Hospital in Dunai last night.”
He mentioned that preparations are currently underway for the post-mortem at the hospital, after which the body will be brought back to Gotamkot.
