KATHMANDU: Kailash Sirohiya, the Chair of Kantipur Media Group (KMG), arrested for citizenship-related charges, is slated to commence his statement today.
Dhanusha Police Spokesperson DSP Ranjan Awa has clarified that while Sirohiya may be interviewed initially, the formal statement will commence on Friday.
Initially permitted to detain Sirohiya for three days until Friday, the police are prepared to extend this deadline if necessary.
Sirohiya, apprehended from his Thapathali office on Tuesday, was promptly transported to Dhanusha.
Today, Dhanusha police intend to seek court approval for another extension
. With the initial deadline expiring on Thursday, given it was a public holiday, the police are pursuing court action today.
DSP Ranjan Awa confirmed that Sirohia will be presented to court for an extension due to ongoing investigations.
His arrest was effectuated at the central office of KMG in Thapathali, Kathmandu, following court sanction.
