Man dies in ambulance hit in Sunsari

KATHMANDU: A man has died after being hit by an ambulance in Sunsari.
The incident occurred at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday along the East-West Highway in Bhantabari, Municipality-8 of Koshi Rural Municipality.
The immediate emergency number ambulance, which did not have its name, plate number, or origin visible, hit the man, who appeared to be mentally unstable, and he died on the spot.
The 50-year-old man, who appeared to be like a Terai resident, unable to speak, was seriously injured when he was hit.
He was taken to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for treatment, but he was pronounced dead at 2 a.m. on Thursday (today) by the district police office in Sunsari.
The fleeing ambulance has hindered the identification process, according to the police, who are conducting investigations into the incident.
The preliminary investigation by the police indicates that the accident occurred due to the ambulance’s high speed.
Further investigations into the incident are underway.
