The Minister, along with Secretary Dr. Roshan Pokharel and other officials, participated in the assessment starting at 1 p.m.
Minister Pradeep inspected both the new and old buildings of Bir Hospital.
Afterward, they also examined the condition of the nearby National Trauma Center.
During the approximately three-hour inspection, Minister Yadav directly met with patients to gather information about their conditions.
The Minister highlighted several issues during the inspection, especially regarding the emergency department and operation theaters.
He emphasized the need for better organization in hospitals nationwide, stating, “The hospital should be properly managed to ensure effective treatment for patients.” He pointed out that the lack of management mainly stems from a shortage of human resources.
Minister Yadav pledged to swiftly improve the management of healthcare facilities to enhance service delivery. He noted instances where patients had to share beds due to a shortage and promised to address this issue promptly.
Regarding the shortage of medicines in the hospital pharmacy, Minister Yadav directed the hospital’s Vice Chair Dr. Bhupendra Basnet to implement a token system immediately.
He also acknowledged public complaints about the long queues at the pharmacy due to the absence of a token system.
Dr. Basnet admitted the medication shortage during the inspection and assured that measures would be taken to restock medicines within two hours and resolve the issue of medicine shortage under health insurance.
“We acknowledge the medication shortage and are taking steps to resolve it,” he stated. “We will also improve desk management immediately upon the completion of medicine restocking within two hours.”
Minister Yadav instructed for the immediate management of unused physical resources behind Veer Hospital during the inspection process.
