KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has issued a statement regarding the arrest of Kailash Sirohiya, the Chair of Kantipur Media Group and a prominent businessman.

On Wednesday, Dr. Mukul Dhakal, the General Secretary and Spokesperson for the RSP, released a statement asserting that under the rule of law, no one is above the law.

The RSP emphasized that the government is capable of taking actions in accordance with the rule of law without compromising citizens’ dignity or the rights inherent in an open democratic society.

The party underscored the importance of legal adherence, stating that no one, regardless of their power, is exempt from following the law. The RSP criticized the notion that certain individuals should be untouchable, calling it feudal cowardice.

The RSP declared, “The beauty of the rule of law lies in the principle that no one is above the law. Democracy triumphs when the belief that everyone, regardless of their power, must obey the law is upheld. The idea that certain individuals should be untouchable is feudal cowardice. The Rastriya Swatantra Party is clear that such prejudices have distorted the country’s political system.”

Additionally, the RSP clarified the distinction between profit-oriented private business persons and working journalists.
