Kantipur Chair Sirohiya accuses Home Minister of power abuse and retaliation
In a statement issued on Tuesday afternoon, Sirohiya claimed that Minister Lamichhane has been retaliating against the media group for its continuous reporting on the plight of cooperative scam victims.
KATHMANDU: Kailash Sirohiya, Chair of Kantipur Media Group, has accused Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane of abusing his power and seeking revenge.
In a statement issued on Tuesday afternoon, Sirohiya claimed that Minister Lamichhane has been retaliating against the media group for its continuous reporting on the plight of cooperative scam victims.
Sirohiya alleged that this is not the first time Kantipur has faced interference due to its reporting, and he himself has been imprisoned in the past for similar reasons.
He accused Lamichhane of attempting to blackmail and divert attention from the main issue by orchestrating a complaint against him.
Sirohiya expressed suspicion over the issuance of an arrest warrant without prior investigation.
He questioned when there would be an investigation into Lamichhane’s own case of holding dual passports, which was previously dismissed by the Attorney General’s office, allowing Lamichhane to negotiate politically and come to power.
Sirohiya warned against attempts to cover up irregularities and asserted that such efforts would not deter him.
