Teacher absconds with student, flees to India

KATHMANDU: Karna Singh Saud, a teacher at Nagarjun Basic School in Shivanath-1 Rural Municipality, Baitadi, has fled with a ninth-grade student.

Saud, who was teaching students in class 9, allegedly fled with a girl from the village.

The incident has shocked the community, as Saund was a trusted educator.

Saud, a 28-year-old teacher appointed by the rural municipality, went missing on Wednesday, May 15.

It has come to light that he fled to India after luring the village girl into marriage.

Saund, who was married, has left behind two sons, as locals have disclosed.

Mansingh Saund, Acting Chair of Shivanath Rural Municipality Ward No. 1, has said that he has taken the initiative to arrest Karan Singh in India.
