Makalu Khabar correspondent Rohita dies in accident

KATHMANDU: Shivendra Rohita, a journalist working for Makalu Khabar, lost his life in an accident on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred in Thapachowk, Janakpurdham Municipality, Dhanusha, when a Scorpio, bearing registration number Ba 21 Cha 3343, collided head-on with Rohita’s motorcycle, registered as State 2-5694.
The accident occurred around 3 am when a Scorpio collided with a motorcycle, leaving Rohita critically injured.
Despite efforts by medical professionals at the State hospital, Rohita, aged 32 and a resident of Shahidnagar Municipality-8, succumbed to his injuries at 3:28 am.
The collision also resulted in injuries to 25-year-old Jayanath Yadav, the motorcyclist from Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-2, who is currently undergoing treatment at a regional hospital.
Eyewitnesses initially reported Yadav as the motorcycle driver, but Dhanusha Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhuwaneshwar Tiwari confirmed through CCTV footage that the Scorpio, driven by 28-year-old Manoj Shah of Shahidnagar Municipality-5, was responsible for the collision.
SP Tiwari stated that the Scorpio, along with its occupants, is now in police custody.
Meanwhile, Manoj Shah has been arrested and is being questioned regarding the incident.
Shivendra Rohita, a respected state correspondent for Makalu Khabar, leaves behind a void in the journalism community with his untimely demise.
