Traffic police officer found dead with multiple facial injuries

KATHMANDU: Yuvraj Ghimire, a traffic police officer, was found dead in Manmaiju, Balaju, with his uniform and shoes burned and discarded nearby.

Ghimire was stationed at the Durbar Marg Traffic Police office.

Officer Ghimire was last seen leaving his duty on Thursday and did not return to his office. His body was discovered on Friday evening in Tarkeshwor Municipality-9, Manmaiju.

Following the discovery of the body, SSP Sanu Ram Bhattarai, head of the Valley Crime Investigation Office, SSP Basanta Rajaure, head of the Kathmandu District Police Range, and other police teams visited the scene and have since returned.

Initial investigations suggest that Ghimire was murdered, as injuries were visible on his face.

His body was found in an under-construction house.

A trained dog from the police canine unit was also brought to the scene to aid in the investigation. Ghimire, originally from Khotang, was residing in Samakhusi.
