KATHMANDU: The meeting of the National Assembly today was again disrupted by protests from the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress.

The session was obstructed as Nepali Congress MPs stood up in protest before the agenda could be addressed.

Following the protest by the Congress MPs, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal urged for a conducive environment to carry out the proceedings.

Chairperson Dahal requested the members not to protest, stating that the issue did not originate in the National Assembly.

He expressed that due to the disruption, he was unable to proceed with the scheduled activities, including expressing gratitude for the upcoming fiscal year’s policies and programs presented by President Ram Chandra Paudel on behalf of the government, and reading out notifications received from the President’s Office.

The next meeting of the National Assembly has been postponed to 1:15 PM on Sunday, May 19, 2024 (Jestha 6, 2081 BS).
