Nepal Idol winner Ravi Oad released on bail amid marital rape allegations

KATHMANDU: Singer Ravi Oad, known for his victory in Nepal Idol’s second season, has been granted bail of Rs 500,000 by the Kanchanpur District Court.

Oad was arrested on charges of marital rape after his wife filed a complaint on April 2 at the Area Police Office in Jhalari.

He surrendered to the police following the accusation and was subsequently remanded in custody for five days for investigation.

Oad was released on Thursday evening after the court’s decision.

Inspector Pushkar Panta, spokesperson for the District Police Office in Kanchanpur, confirmed the details of the case.

Ravi Oad rose to notoriety as a Nepal’s singer, actor, and dancer after winning the second season of the television series Nepal Idol.
