KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has decided to continue obstructing the parliamentary meeting until consensus is reached among the ruling parties to form a parliamentary investigation committee on Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

Today’s session, scheduled for 11 am, was postponed with the intention to gather agreement and reschedule it for 4 pm.

Despite efforts towards consensus among the parties, Nepali Congress has stated that they will continue the obstruction until the ruling parties agree to form a suitable parliamentary investigation committee.

Sushila Theeng, the spokesperson for Nepali Congress, revealed that they couldn’t reach an agreement on the point of consensus.

She stated that while efforts were made to gather agreement, Nepali Congress is adamant about maintaining the obstruction until their demands are met.

In a conversation with journalists, Nepali Congress MP Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat disclosed that even though the government expressed readiness to investigate the alleged collusion in the cooperative fraud case, there’s a lack of willingness from Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s side to center the investigation on him.

He further mentioned that Congress doesn’t accept the government’s attempt to normalize the issue by forming an investigation committee, as they don’t consider it genuine.
