KATHMANDU: The Pokhara High Court Pokhara has ordered a recount in the Byas Municipality of Tanahun.

Two years after the election of Justices Rajan Prasad Bhattarai and Nirmala Paudel Bhattarai, independent candidate Deepak Raj Joshi, supported by the CPN-UML and Congress, was ordered by the Pokhara High Court to undergo a recount.

This decision comes after Deepak Raj Joshi, son of former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Govinda Raj Joshi, lost the mayoral race in Byas Municipality for the second time, with Baikuntha Neupane of the Nepali Congress emerging victorious with the support of the CPN-UML.

Allegations of fraud surfaced during the election, prompting Joshi to raise the issue in court.

Joshi lost by 252 votes.
