KATHMANDU: The Nepali national cricket team has won its first practice match against the Windwards Volcanoes.

In a tightly contested match, Nepal emerged victorious by 4 wickets.

This win gives Nepal a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Chasing Windwards’ target of 197 runs, Nepal successfully chased it down in 19.3 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process.

Opening batsman Kushal Bhurtel scored 71 runs off 42 balls, while Dipendra Singh Airee contributed an unbeaten 52 runs off 25 balls.

Similarly, Sompal Kami remained unbeaten with 35 runs.

In their previous encounter, Windwards Volcanoes had scored 196 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

In preparation for the World Cup, Nepal will play two more practice matches against Windwards Volcanoes.

They are scheduled to play their second match on May 16th and the third match on May 18th.
