KATHMANDU: On Tuesday at 3 PM, President Ram Chandra Paudel is scheduled to present the government’s policies and programs.

The main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, has indicated that it will allow the President to proceed with this presentation.

Before this, during a discussion initiated by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Congress Whip Sushila Theeng stated that the party would facilitate the presentation of the policies and programs. However, she mentioned that the Congress would continue its protest during the meeting called for the purpose of tabling the vote of thanks.

The Congress remains firm in its stance to continue the protest until a parliamentary investigation committee is formed to probe the cooperative scandal.

Speaker Ghimire expressed concerns that the lack of agreement among the parties could disrupt the discussions on the policies and programs, as well as future meetings and the budget.

Santosh Pariyar, the Chief Whip of the National Independent Party, stated that Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane should be allowed to speak in the House.

The Congress has been demanding the formation of a parliamentary investigation committee to probe the cooperative scandal, implicating Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Lamichhane.

While they will allow the policies and programs to be presented, they have stated that they will obstruct subsequent meetings until the committee is formed.
