Murderer of Nepal Bank guard nabbed

KATHMANDU: The person who killed Parshuram Phuyal, a 55-year-old security guard of the Nepal Bank Limited branch office, has been arrested.

The accused, apprehended by Saptari Police from Lothar, Makwanpur, on Saturday night, was publicly identified by the police on Sunday afternoon.

According to spokesperson DSP Neupane of Saptari Police, the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Chandrabahadur Subedi from Ward No. 5 of Saptakoshi Municipality, is a former armed police officer who resigned 16 months after serving for 9 years.

DSP Neupane stated that initial investigations revealed Suvedi’s involvement due to financial distress and connection to robbery activities.

The incident took place at the Nepal Bank Limited branch office in Phattepur, Ward No. 1 of Saptakoshi Municipality, where Phuyal was attacked with a khukuri, resulting in his death.

Suvedi entered the bank premises around 3:30 AM on Saturday, broke into the restroom through the ventilator, attempted to break one lock but failed, and then proceeded to the guard’s room where a scuffle broke out between him and Phuyal, resulting in the murder.

Police recovered the khukuri used in the crime along with other evidence such as a bag carried by Suvedi during the incident, shoes worn at the time of the crime, gloves, cap, and scarf, as well as a blade, wrench, pliers, rope, and wooden sticks used at the crime scene.
