Man swept away by river in Kapilvastu

KATHMANDU: One person has died after being swept away by Koili River in Banganga Municipality-7, Kapilvastu.

Lautan Tharu, aged 40 and a resident of a marginalized village, was collecting firewood at 7 am today when he was carried away by the floodwaters of Koili River.

Police Inspector Gopaljung Rayamajhi from the Pipara area police office confirmed Tharu’s demise due to the flood.

Rayamajhi mentioned that Tharu’s body was discovered two kilometers downstream from where he was swept away.
