KATHMANDU: Kamirita Sherpa, renowned mountaineer, has broken her own record by successfully summiting Mount Everest for the 29th time.

He achieved this feat today at 7:25 AM, surpassing her previous record held in his name.

Having begun her Himalayan climbing journey in 1992, Kamirita has conquered some of the world’s highest peaks, including K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu, alongside Everest.

Prior to this ascent, she had successfully summited Everest 28 times, with her last achievement in 2023.

On May 13, 1994, Kamirita made history by reaching the summit of Everest’s south face via the treacherous Khumbu Icefall, marking the highest ascent on the peak at 8,000 meters above sea level.
