Nepal Idol winner Ravi Oad surrenders to police amid marital rape allegations

KATHMANDU: Ravi Oad, the winner of Nepal Idol, surrendered himself to the police. Oad, a resident of Krishnapur Municipality in Kanchanpur district, surrendered at the local police office in Jhalari, regarding allegations of marital rape.

He appeared at the police office himself, where Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Umesh Joshi informed that the investigation into the case has been extended for five more days by the district court.

Allegations of marital rape and unnatural intercourse were levied against Oad’s wife on April 2.

The police had issued an arrest warrant against Oad on the same day.

However, he wasn’t apprehended due to his absence from the country for a musical event.

He appeared before the police on Thursday.
