KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has obstructed the National Assembly meeting.

During Friday’s second session of the National Assembly, members of the Nepali Congress obstructed the meeting.

They raised objections as they sought permission from the Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal to present a proposal in the concerned committee for further discussion on the ‘Electricity Business Bill, 2080’, which recently passed in the National Assembly.

Congress members stood up in protest alongside seeking permission.

The issues raised by the opposition in the Parliament, which the government has not addressed, were the reasons cited for the protest by the Congress.

The demand for the formation of a parliamentary probe committee over the misappropriation, misuse, and abuse of funds collected from the general public, as well as other concerns regarding the deteriorating situation, have been raised against the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs.
