Nepali Congress disrupts HoR session

On the initial day of the budget session, the Nepali Congress obstructed the session.

KATHMANDU: The opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has obstructed today’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR).

The meeting of this year’s budget session which started today commended one hour later than the slated time.

The House meeting got delayed as the NC put its demand for the formation of a parliamentary committee to probe into the issues of misappropriation in the cooperative sector.

Earlier at the beginning of the meeting, the Speaker of HoR, Devraj Ghimire, read out a letter received from the Office of the President regarding the HoR budget session.

In his opening remarks, Speaker Ghimire said the House should focus on the agendas of the people by being responsible to the current challenges and their resolution.

He said the government should discharge its duty to address the concerns raised in the House.

Likewise, Speaker Ghimire welcomed newly-elected HoR members Suhang Nembang and Hasina Khatun.

Nembang of CPN (UML) was elected from the recently held by-election from Ilam and Khatun was elected from Janata Samajwadi Party under the proportional electoral system.
