Woman stabbed at Sydney gym; police launch investigation

KATHMANDU: A woman was swiftly taken to the hospital following a stabbing incident at a gym in Sydney’s inner south on Wednesday.
Authorities from the New South Wales (NSW) Police Force responded to an emergency call at a fitness facility on O’Riordan Street in Alexandria around 12:30 p.m. local time after reports of a stabbing emerged.
Upon arrival, law enforcement was informed that a man, believed to be in his 40s, had allegedly stabbed a 39-year-old woman, according to Xinhua reports.
Medical attention was promptly administered to the injured woman on-site before she was transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in stable condition.
The individuals involved are reported to have a prior acquaintance.
Police have cordoned off the area as a crime scene and have launched an investigation into the incident.
Alexandria, situated approximately 5 kilometers south of Sydney’s central business district, is home to nearly 10,000 residents.
