CP Lohani, star of ‘Maitighar’ & icon of Nepali cinema, passes away at 86
CP Lohani, who had a special interest in the field of music, also worked under the government's service in the Ministry of Finance and Industry.
KATHMANDU: Renowned actor CP Lohani, who starred in the first private-sector movie “Maitighar,” passed away today in Kathmandu at the age of 86 due to complications from pneumonia exacerbated by Alzheimer’s disease.
His nephew and journalist Bikash Prasad Lohani provided the information, stating that CP Lohani was admitted to Annapurna Neuro Hospital in Maitighar for treatment before his demise.
CP Lohani, who had a special interest in the field of music, also worked under the government’s service in the Ministry of Finance and Industry.
During his tenure at the Ministry of Industry, he served as the director responsible for Biratnagar Jute Mill and Raghupati Jute Mill.
Although his real name was Chidambar Prasad Lohani, he was more commonly known by his screen name CP Lohani in the film and music industry.
He tied the knot with actress Mala Sinha, who starred alongside him in the movie “Maitighar.” Their daughter currently resides in the United States, as disclosed by journalist Lohani.
The family has announced that Sipi Lohani’s final rites will take place today at the Pashupati Aryaghat.
