CPN-UML’s Daman Bhandari emerges victorious in Bajhang

KATHMANDU: In a tightly contested race in Bajhang by-election, CPN-UML’s Daman Bhandari has secured a significant victory, defeating Congress’s Abhishek Singh by a margin of 266 votes.

With a total of 11,612 votes in his favor, CPN-UML candidate Daman Bhandari clinched the victory, surpassing Congress’s Abhishek Singh, who garnered 11,346 votes.

Janak Budha of Maoist got 3,831 votes and Dil Bahadur Singh of Unified Socialist Party got 2,514 votes. 30,328 votes were cast in Saturday’s voting.

The by-election was held here after Prithvi Bahadur Singh, a member of the state assembly elected from the Congress in the 2079 election, died in a road accident.
