KATHMANDU: In the votes count of by-election in Ilam-2, there is intense competition between the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML).
When the counting of votes in wards 1 and 2 of Phakphokthum Rural Municipality concluded, Nepali Congress candidate Dambar Bahadur Khadka secured 1145 votes, while CPN (UML) candidate Suhan Nemwang received 1,063 votes.
Similarly, independent candidate Dakendra Singh Limbu garnered 311 votes, and the candidate from Rastriya Swatantra Party, Milan Limbu, secured 209 votes.
During Saturday’s by-election, a total of 69,287 votes were cast, accounting for 59.79 percent of the eligible 115,889 voters in the constituency.
In the by-election, there are 12 political parties and 19 individuals competing.
