22-year-old girl dies in road accident
Her mother, Usha Karki, aged 50, was seriously injured in the accident.
KATHMANDU: A young woman has tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident in the Bardibas Jungle of Mahottari.
A motorcycle numbered State 2-03-007 Pa 3369, which was travelling from Sarlahi to Bardibas in Mahottari, met with an accident in the Tuteshwar forest of Bardibas Municipality-5 on the East-West Highway on Saturday.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rewatiman Pokharel of the Bardibas District Police Office, the victim of the accident is 22-year-old Smriti Karki Rana Bhat, a resident of Karmaiya in Bagmati Municipality-4 of Sarlahi.
Her mother, Usha Karki, aged 50, was seriously injured in the accident.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rewatiman Pokharel disclosed that following initial treatment at Shubhaswastik Hospital in Bardibas, she was transferred to Kathmandu for further medical care.
DSP Pokharel remarked that the motorcycle was being driven by the daughter, suggesting that the accident occurred when the mother’s shawl entangled with the motorcycle’s rear wheel.
As a result of the shawl entangled with the rear wheel, the mother and daughter sustained severe injuries, leading to the motorcycle losing control and toppling onto the road. Responding swiftly, the police transported the critically injured mother and daughter to Shubh Swastik Hospital Bardibas for urgent medical attention.
Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries while being transported to Janakpur for advanced treatment, as Shubh Swastik Hospital lacked the necessary facilities. DSP Pokharel confirmed that doctors at Kabya Hospital in Janakpur pronounced her dead upon reaching
The deceased, Smriti Karki, hailed from Hariyon, Lalbandi Municipality-4 in Sarlahi. She had been married just a year ago.
The body of the deceased has been kept at the regional hospital in Janakpur for post-mortem examination, as informed by the police.
