Actor Paul Shah's statement has reignited the discussion, expressing embarrassment over the lack of respect shown to the players.
KATHMANDU: West Indies A cricket team visited Nepal on Wednesday.
The Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) officials welcomed the visiting team from West Indies ‘A’ at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) as they arrived for a five-match T20 series against Nepal.
A separate vehicle was arranged for the players and their luggage at the airport, with an AC bus for the players and a pickup truck for their kit bags.
A photo of this arrangement has gone viral on social media, with cricket enthusiasts criticizing the lack of respect shown towards the players.
However, a cricket association official stated that such arrangements are standard protocol and that there has been no restriction on criticism from the association. Nevertheless, this issue has sparked debate.
From artists to social activists and politicians, opinions on this matter have been divided.
Actor Paul Shah’s statement has reignited the discussion, expressing embarrassment over the lack of respect shown to the players.
Paul’s Facebook status has garnered attention, where he expressed, ‘We are ashamed to see the welcome given to West Indies, a nation playing test cricket.’
The comments raining down on his post aren’t just about making him feel ashamed. Rather, various individuals have reminded him of his own past, where he was imprisoned on charges of raping a minor.
The post he shared didn’t feature the welcoming picture but rather a picture of himself feeling embarrassed, carrying kit bags to the vehicle, as he wrote about feeling ashamed.
Remember, Paul Shah himself has been accused of raping a 15-year-old minor and was imprisoned in past years.
Despite being acquitted by the district court, his case has been appealed to the Supreme Court.
