Eco-University Alliance’s Asian Summit to take place in Nepal

KATHMANDU: The Asian Summit of the Eco-University Alliance will be held in Nepal from May 11-15.
This summit, focused on alternative education practices, will take place at Kings College in Kathmandu from May 11, while the remaining four days will be held at Royal Beach Camp in Dadhing.
This summit will be conducted in an unconference style, straightforwardly avoiding any set agendas.
It is jointly organized by the Eco-University Alliance, Kings College, and the University of Nepal.
The Eco-University Alliance is a group of global innovators who are reimagining the fundamentals of education intending to redefine the educational foundation of today.
Various educators, institutions, and individuals are involved in this initiative. They recognize the current global economic, political, and social systems are destroying the Earth and injustices to humans and other beings.
In response, they are seeking to establish themselves as a movement where individuals, institutions, and communities claim their knowledge systems and cultural imaginations, and confront the challenges of today’s world by reimagining the process of learning.
They believe in reimagining the process of learning to confront the challenges of today.
Even though it’s just starting in various places and contexts, these diverse educational initiatives are already critiquing the current education system and presenting new practices.
Their focus is not only on the deep development of studies but also on directing towards the re-emergence of environmental, social, and cultural systems.
This summit will focus on the exchange and practice of learning among members of the Eco-University Alliance and other participants.
Individuals who have been engaged in alternative education practices or have such thinking are eligible to participate by submitting applications. So far, participants from Nepal, India, Canada, Italy, Japan, Thailand, and Mexico have applied.
The application deadline for foreigners is till April 19 and for Nepali participants is till April 22.
