In Pics: Photo exhibition in memory of ‘Gorkha Earthquake’

KATHMANDU: A commemorative photo exhibition was hosted in remembrance of the catastrophic earthquake that struck on the 12th of Baisakh, 2072 (25 April , 2015).
Held at the Department of Mines and Geology, the exhibition aimed to raise awareness about earthquake risk reduction.
Organized by the Department of Mines and Geology in collaboration with the National Earthquake Measurement and Research Center, the exhibition showcased a total of 55 impactful photographs.
These images depicted the widespread devastation caused by the earthquakes in regions such as Doti, Bajhang, Jajarkot, among others.
Additionally, the exhibition highlighted the evolving societal and geographical transformations since the fateful day of Baisakh 12 (April 25).
Around 10,000 people lost their lives and thousands of physical infrastructures got damaged in the earthquake measuring 7.8 in the Richer scale that occurred at 11:56 am on Baisakh 12, 2072 BS (25 April 2015) with its epicentre at Barpak of Gorkha.
