Fire engulfs seven houses in Birgunj
Loss of property worth Rs 5.4 million.
KATHMANDU: This morning, a fire broke out in Birgunj Metropolitan-17, resulting in the destruction of seven houses.
The fire originated from a thatch-roof house belonging to local resident Mahendra Sahani and quickly spread to seven neighboring houses.
According to Rajiv Bahadur Chhetri, the chairperson of ward no. 17, the estimated property loss from the incident amounts to Rs 5.4 million.
Chhetri mentioned that due to the magnitude of the blaze, efforts to extinguish it promptly were unsuccessful.
He added that not only houses but also cowsheds were reduced to ashes in the fire, and nothing could be salvaged from inside the affected houses.
Kumar Bikram Thapa, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office in Parsa, stated that it took two hours for two fire engines to finally put out the flames.
In response to the disaster, Ward Chairperson Chhetri announced that the local government would take steps to provide assistance to those in need.
