Sandeep Lamichhane faces retrial at Patan High Court
The court demanded clear documentation regarding the birthdate.
KATHMANDU: Former national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane is set to appear in the Patan High Court today for a retrial following a plea against the district court’s verdict.
Previously, on April 14, Justices Munendra Prasad Awasthi and Durgaprasad Dhungel had ordered a retrial to verify Lamichhane’s date of birth, requested by Ward No. 2 of Gaushala-26.
The court demanded clear documentation regarding the birthdate.
Facing charges of forced confinement, Lamichhane, deemed guilty by the Kathmandu District Court, had appealed to the High Court for a retrial.
Allegedly implicated by the opposition, Lamichhane filed his plea last Feb 22 in Patan High Court.
The district court had sentenced Lamichhane to eight years in prison for forced confinement.
