Biratnagar hospital faces scrutiny over unauthorized operations
A team led by the coordinator of the Social Development Committee, Kaji Bahadur Basnet, conducted an inspection of the hospital on Friday.
KATHMANDU: The Biratnagar-3 Dairy Farm has come under scrutiny by the Biratnagar Municipality following allegations of unauthorized operation and healthcare service disruptions by Birat Nidhan Hospital and Trauma Center.
A team led by the coordinator of the Social Development Committee, Kaji Bahadur Basnet, conducted an inspection of the hospital on Friday.
During the inspection, it was found that the hospital was operating without business registration from the municipality and lacked the necessary permits from relevant authorities.
Dilip Yadav, Chief of the Health Department of the municipality, informed that despite initiating the process for business registration and permits, the hospital had been operating without obtaining them.
Yadav also stated that while some medical services, including the pharmacy, were operational, others were suspended until the necessary permits were obtained.
He emphasized that legal action would be taken against any unauthorized operations, including against the chairman of Ward No. 1 and other members of the Social Development Committee, if found involved in illegal activities.
The inspection was conducted with the participation of health officials from the municipality, including Ramesh Karki, Meena Adhikari, Bhupendra Sah, Rajendra Kuinkel, Chief of the City Police Rajan Paudel, Shekhar Yadav, District Administration Office Morang Representative Krishna Pokharel & Monitoring Committee Member Dr. Bishawambar Yadav.
The municipality has intensified its inspection of other businesses operating without registration as well.
