The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has urged parents to ensure that children within this age range receive Vitamin ‘A’ capsules to safeguard them against diseases.
It also advises those who have missed their regular vaccinations to visit the nearest health center for immunization.
The ministry specifies that Vitamin ‘A’ capsules will be provided to children aged 6 to 59 months, while anti-worming tablets will be administered to those aged one to five years.
Approximately 3.2 million children are expected to receive Vitamin ‘A’ supplements, while around 2.9 million children will be given anti-worm medication, according to the ministry.
To mitigate health risks and combat malnutrition among children, the government has been regularly distributing Vitamin ‘A’ capsules since 2050 and administering leprosy medication since 2056.
According to the ministry, 52,000 women health volunteers and 10,000 health workers will be deployed for the national Vitamin ‘A’ program.
Every year, the government has been administering Vitamin ‘A’ and anti-worm medicine to children for free in the months of Baisakh and Kartik.
