KATHMANDU: A wild elephant was found dead in Jhapa with both its tusks cut off.
The Division Forest Office in Jhapa has reported the discovery of a dead elephant with both tusks cut off on Tuesday afternoon, found within the Kalika Community Forest in Mechinagar Municipality-12.
Division Chief of the Forest Office, Meghraj Rai, confirmed the incident, stating that the elephant was discovered around 4:30 PM.
Local authorities had informed the police upon finding the dead elephant.
Details regarding the condition of the elephant, including the circumstances surrounding death, will only be disclosed after post-mortem examinations are conducted, according to Rai.
