KATHMANDU: Electricity service in Madi has been disrupted due to an issue with an underground electric cable inside the Chitwan National Park.
On Monday night, a power outage occurred when one of the underground wires fell.
Vinod Sapkota, the Chief Engineer of the Nepal Electricity Authority Chanauli Distribution Center, reported that by Tuesday evening, five operations were restored after maintenance efforts. However, this morning, the power was once again interrupted when the cable broke again. Sapkota mentioned that repair work on the fallen wire inside the park has commenced.
Sapkota said that efforts will be made to operate the electricity service regularly throughout the day, but it has not been decided how long it will take for the restoration. It is said whether electricity can be supplied till evening after the repair work is completed today.
“There is no way to say yet,” he said. Electricity service in Madi has been interrupted time and again due to the fall of the underground wire inside the park.
The Chanauli-Jagatpur-Madi 33 KV sub-transmission line’s cable has been laid underground for eight kilometers inside the park. Engineer Sapkota mentioned that although the process of laying an alternative cable underground within the park has commenced, actual work has not yet begun.
The daily life in Madi has been significantly impacted by frequent power outages, affecting all sectors including industry, business, educational institutions, internet, and media.
