KATHMANDU: Suspended District Judge Bhuwan Giri, facing accusations of marital rape, has been incarcerated.

He was sent to the Dilli Bazaar prison office by the Kathmandu District Court.

On April 3, a joint bench comprising Supreme Court Justices Hari Prasad Phuyal and Til Prasad Shrestha nullified the rulings of the Kathmandu District Court and the Patan High Court, directing Giri’s imprisonment.

Despite orders for his release on bail from both the Kathmandu District Court and the Patan High Court, the Supreme Court overturned these decisions.

Following a complaint filed by Giri’s wife alleging rape, the police apprehended the suspended judge for investigation.
