The Seto Matsyendranath Chariot Management Committee has been making various preparations for the procession and has also constructed the chariot.
The Seto Matsyendranath procession commences every year from Chaitra Shukla Ashtami (eighth day of the bright fortnight of the Nepali month of Chaitra) and starts from the Tindhara Pathshala near Durbar Marg.
The procession continues for three days within the city. It travels through places like Asan, Basantapur, Jaisideval, and finally culminates in Machhindra Bahal.
This chariot is considered a symbol of the snake deity. After the procession, it is believed that rain and good harvest will follow.
On the second day, the chariot stops in front of Kaal Bhairav in Basantapur from Asan.
On the third day, it moves from Basantapur to Lagan for the procession. In Lagan, the chariot circles the temple of Seto Matsyendranath three times.
