KATHMANDU: Four individuals, overwhelmed by the intense heat at Pindeshwor Mahakumbha Mela in Ward No. 1 of Barahkshetra Municipality, Sunsari district, were promptly rescued by armed police forces and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Among those rescued were Rina Pokhrel, 30 of Barahkshetra Metropolitan-10, 45-year-old Achyut Chaulagai, resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32 Koteshwor, 56-year-old Manju Khatiwada of Udayapur district and 50-year-old Santosh Tripathi of Sarlahi district.

All were on their way to the Mahakumbha Mela when they suddenly lost consciousness and were rescued by the 11-person disaster rescue team from Security Base Chatara and sent to Chatara Hospital for further treatment after initial treatment at a temporary health camp run by the Armed Police Force.

Following their rescue, the eleven individuals who suffered a similar fate earlier were provided with primary medical care at temporary health camps set up by armed police forces.

This initiative has been ongoing since Chaitra 27 (April 9) and will continue until Baisakh 28 (May 10), ensuring the safety and well-being of attendees at the Mahakumbha Mela through the provision of free health services and disaster relief efforts.
