Strong dust storms hit Mongolia

KATHMANDU: Life in several regions of Mongolia has been significantly impacted by strong winds and heavy dust storms, as confirmed by the country’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
NEMA reported that the wind and dust storm, moving at speeds of 26 meters per second, has swept through central Mongolia, encompassing the national capital Ulaanbaatar, as well as Arkhangai and Uvurhangai provinces, along with the southern Gobi provinces of Umnugovi, Dundgovi, and Dornogovi.
The adverse weather conditions are expected to persist throughout the weekend.
Consequently, the public, particularly nomadic herdsmen and drivers, are strongly advised to exercise extra caution and take necessary precautions to mitigate potential risks and disasters.
