Curfew imposed in Sunsari lifted
This decision comes after a recent incident of violence where a group in Harinagara Rural Municipality had escalated local tensions by engaging in physical altercations.
KATHMANDU: The Chief District Officer of Sunsari, Jaya Narayan Acharya, has informed that the curfew imposed in various local bodies including Harinagara Rural Municipality, Koshi Rural Municipality, Devnagar Rural Municipality, Bhokraha-Narsing Rural Municipality, and Inaruwa Municipality has been lifted.
This decision comes after a recent incident of violence where a group in Harinagara Rural Municipality had escalated local tensions by engaging in physical altercations.
Following the incident, there was also a clash between two groups, which necessitated the intervention of security forces, including the imposition of a curfew in the area.
According to Acharya, the curfew was lifted after the situation calmed down and the law enforcement agencies managed to arrest one individual involved in the violence, while others are under investigation.
The curfew had been imposed by the Sunsari administration to prevent further escalation of violence and to restore social harmony between the conflicting groups.
