UML’s Bimala Ghimire elected as the vice chair of NA

KATHMANDU: In the recent National Assembly session held on Wednesday, Bimala Ghimire, a member of the CPN (UML), was elected as the Deputy Speaker.
Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal announced that Bimala Ghimire was elected as the majority in favor of the request to be elected vice chair in the election held in the National Assembly on Wednesday.
Ghimire, backed by several prominent political parties including the CPN (Maoist Centre), the Rastriya Janata Party, and the CPN (Unified Socialist), secured 39 votes, while the Congress candidate, Bishnu Devi Pudasaini, received 16 votes.
The election was conducted in the presence of 55 members.
Chair Dahal extended his congratulations to the newly elected Deputy Speaker, Ghimire, wishing her a successful tenure.
The position had been vacant since the resignation of former Deputy Speaker Urmila Aryal on March 28.
Another meeting of the National Assembly has been scheduled for Friday, April 12, at 1 PM, with a duration of 15 minutes, to further discuss matters of importance.
