Motorboat adventures await at Aanbu Khaireni’s Marshyangdi reservoir from mis-April onwards!
Earlier, on the Poush 9 (Dec 25), the Aanbu Khaireni Rural Municipality had issued a notice inviting proposals for motorboat operations.

KATHMANDU: The Boat-Bore company, a motorboat service provider, is set to commence operations on the reservoir of the Marshyangdi Hydropower Center located along the Prithvi Highway. B.B (Bishnu) Dhakal, the director of the company, revealed plans to launch motorboat operations starting from the 2nd of Baisakh (mid-April).
Earlier, on the Poush 9 (Dec 25), the Aanbu Khaireni Rural Municipality had issued a notice inviting proposals for motorboat operations.
Following the selection process, the Rural Municipality has reached an agreement with Boat-Bore for conducting motorboat operations.
According to Shukra Chuman, the chairperson of Aanbu Khaireni Rural Municipality, the inauguration of the motorboat service is scheduled for the 2nd of Baisakh. The operator, Dhakal, mentioned an initial investment of NPR 1 crore for launching the motorboat operations in the reservoir.
This initiative by Boat-Bore, the first and largest motorboat manufacturer in Nepal, will see the operation of two motorboats named Agni and Fishtail. The company believes that motorboat operations will contribute to the development of Marshyangdi as an internal and external tourist destination.
Chuman also noted that the proximity of the reservoir to the famous religious site Alka Devi Temple will attract religious tourists to travel by motorboat. Additionally, tourists traveling along the Prithvi Highway could also be drawn to motorboat rides.
Furthermore, the company plans to invest an additional NPR 3 crores to construct various facilities along the reservoir, including a beach restaurant, floating deck, river viewpoint, restroom, and a motorboat service center.
Previously, the company had introduced motorboat services at the Waterpark in Nepalgunj, Narayanghat in Chitwan, and Devghat, along with providing motorboat services at Bharat Tal in Sarlahi. They have also outlined plans to introduce motorboat operations at Bulbule Tal in Surkhet in the near future.
How much is the fee?
The fee for motorboat rides varies according to the duration of the trip. The company has set the following charges: NPR 250 per person for a ride lasting 6 to 8 minutes, NPR 500 per person for a ride lasting 10 to 12 minutes, and NPR 1,000 per person for a ride lasting 15 to 20 minutes.
How to reach?
After traveling approximately 14 kilometers from Muglin towards Pokhara and 10 kilometers from Dumre Bazar towards Kathmandu, you will reach the Boat-Bore’s motorboat station. This station is situated about three kilometers away from Aanbu Khaireni. The journey on this route is easily accessible through public transportation, and parking facilities are also available for private vehicles.
