GIBL inked the agreement with GIZ Nepal for promoting electric public transportation
The initiative aims to increase the use of electric vehicles in public transportation and contribute to a cleaner environment by expanding the use of domestically produced electricity.

KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank Limited (GIBL) has entered into a partnership with Germany’s GIZ Group to invest in Nepal’s electric public transportation sector.
Under this collaboration, GIBL, in cooperation with the Government of Nepal and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, is operating the “Nepal for Long-term Electrified Transport” project as part of a mitigation action facility.
The initiative aims to increase the use of electric vehicles in public transportation and contribute to a cleaner environment by expanding the use of domestically produced electricity.
Furthermore, the project seeks to enhance public access to electric transport services, reduce reliance on petroleum products, and mitigate environmental pollution caused by vehicular emissions.
Global IME Bank is also offering loans at minimal interest rates to improve electric transport infrastructure and individual transportation vehicles.
Being the first commercial bank with a network spread across seventy-five districts in the country, GIBL operates 354 branches, 379 ATMs, 277 branchless banking services, 67 extensions, and revenue collection counters, as well as three representative offices abroad, providing services at over 1,100 service centers.
GIBL is expanding its services to cater to all by planning to establish banks across the board, providing excellent service to over 46 million customers.
The bank’s initiatives include providing various services and facilities through its plans.
