One held for murdering a 70-year-old elderly woman

KATHMANDU: A 70-year-old Parvati Kumari Mahato, a resident of Sarlahi, Bagmati Municipality-4, was found dead in her house on Tuesday.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team led by District Police Chief Superintendent Dayanidhi Gyawali and Chief of the Local Police Office in Hariyon, Anilraj Giri, rushed to the scene.
The police have expressed concerns over the suspicious nature of the incident.
In the preliminary investigation, the suspicion of the elderly woman’s murder arose, prompting the authorities to take a young man into custody for further investigation.
Superintendent Gyawali informed that additional investigations are underway regarding the incident.
It has been reported by the police that injuries were found on the deceased elderly woman’s body, along with nearby traces of blood and a piece of wood.
Additionally, based on CCTV camera evidence, a young man aged around 28-30 years has been apprehended by the Local Police Office in Hariyon.
Due to the ongoing investigation, the identity of the young man has been kept confidential by the police.
Furthermore, the body of the elderly woman has been transferred to the Malangawa District Hospital for autopsy.
This incident has left the community in shock and mourning, awaiting further developments in the investigation to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the elderly woman’s untimely demise.
