KATHMANDU: The Department of Tourism has accepted licenses for 63 mountaineers to climb Mt. Everest this spring, including 13 women and 50 males.

Chun Bahadur Tamang, Section Officer of the Department, said that 148 people, including 42 women, had gotten licenses to climb various mountains, resulting in a royalty collection of 105.59 million rupees thus far.

In a news statement, the Department highlighted permit allotment, with three expedition teams gaining permits for Mt Amadablam, Mt Annapurna, and Mt Everest.

According to Department records, 478 people were granted permission to climb Mount Everest last year.
