CIAA initiates legal action against 6 individuals for COVID-19 health supplies corruption

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken decisive action by filing a case worth nearly three billion rupees against six individuals for their alleged involvement in corruption related to the procurement of health supplies during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Legal proceedings were initiated by the anti-corruption body at the Special Court in Kathmandu on Sunday.

According to CIAA sources, the defendants include Chandradev Mehetā, former Director of the Health Directorate in Dhankuta, biomedical engineer Kushal Dahal, accounts officer Dandar Singh Bishwakarma, procurement officer Udesh Kumar Shrestha, and Bishal Pandit and Manoj Kumar Acharya, proprietors of Hospitek Enterprises.

The accused are facing charges of irregularities totaling Rs 28,966,050 in the procurement of health supplies during the COVID-19 period.
