KATHMANDU: On the occasion of Easter Sunday, adherents of the Christian faith across the globe are observing the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today, a rally was organized in the capital city of Kathmandu to commemorate the event.
The rally, which commenced from various locations in the valley, culminated at Bhrikuti Mandap, where a program was conducted to mark the occasion.
Believers celebrate Easter Sunday with the conviction that Jesus Christ rose from the dead three days after being crucified, as stated in the Bible.
According to biblical references, Jesus was crucified on a Friday in Jerusalem and rose again on the third day, which fell on a Sunday.
Easter Sunday is celebrated as the day of Jesus’s resurrection. It is believed that Jesus remained on earth for an additional 40 days after his resurrection, during which he imparted teachings to his disciples before ascending to heaven.
