NIC Asia celebrates ‘Global Money Week 2024’, benefiting over 6,000 youths

Over 6,000 students and youths nationwide benefited from the campaign, with more than 30 branches organizing visits for over 250 students each to enlighten them about banking systems.

KATHMANDU: NIC Asia Bank has completed this year’s ‘Global Money Week 2024’ by conducting various week-long programs among thousands of students across the country with the aim of enhancing financial literacy.

In collaboration with the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), NIC Asia Bank orchestrated various programs across the nation as part of ‘Global Money Week 2024’, aiming to enhance financial literacy among thousands of students and youths.

Over 6,000 students and youths nationwide benefited from the campaign, with more than 30 branches organizing visits for over 250 students each to enlighten them about banking systems.

Even in districts like Mugu, Kalikot, Bajhang, Rukum, Jumla, and Salyan, where financial literacy is relatively low, NIC Asia Bank conducted programs to educate students, demonstrating its commitment to fostering financial empowerment nationwide.

Additionally, the bank produced and distributed materials in collaboration with the NRB to further support the cause of enhancing financial literacy across the country.

NIC Asia Bank’s various programs and initiatives, as directed by NRB, to promote financial literacy, awareness, and knowledge among children and students have earned the bank significant credibility.”

Since 2012, in collaboration with children and youths, NIC Asia Bank has been annually celebrating ‘Global Money Week’, aiming to enhance financial literacy and knowledge development. In Nepal, this initiative has been celebrated from Chaitra 5 to 11, with the 12th series being recently concluded.

This globally recognized financial awareness campaign has reached over 176 countries and more than 600 million children and youths worldwide. NIC Asia Bank has been actively organizing various programs in alignment with this initiative in previous years as well.

As one of the leading banks in the country, NIC Asia Bank has expanded its banking network extensively, with 360 branch offices, 670 ATMs, 116 extended counters, and 51 branchless banking networks established nationwide.

This bank has been successful in serving approximately 25 percent of the economically active population aged between 20 and 50 in the country’s total population.

The bank’s success in directly and indirectly paying the Nepalese government more than Rs 237 billion in revenue and explaining more than Rs 610 billion to the Nepalese government in the last fiscal year is attributed to the practice of responsible banking to strengthen the economy and promote high economic growth.

Expanding its presence in remote districts with low financial inclusion such as Mugu, Kalikot, Bajhang, Rukum, Jumla, and Salyan, and operating in more than 34 local bodies where no banks or financial institutions have reached, the bank has established 72 percent of its branches in rural and small urban areas, where more than 80 percent of the total population resides.
