Trishuli taxi accident update: all victims identified, one reported missing
The bodies of the five deceased individuals have been recovered from the river.
KATHMANDU: The identities of the five people who died in the accident in which a passenger taxi fell in Trishuli have been revealed.
The taxi, bearing license plate number BA 2 JA 4196, was en route from Kathmandu to Gorkha when it veered off the Prithvi Highway and plunged into the Trishuli River in Simaldhara, Chitwan, Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5, at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shreeram Bhandari of the District Police Office, Chitwan, all six occupants of the taxi, including the driver, were onboard at the time of the accident, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of five individuals.
One passenger, Diwash Rokaya, aged 18, is reported missing and presumed to be in a critical condition.
The deceased have been identified as taxi driver Arjun Shirmal, 35, from Ward No. 7 of Gorakha Municipality, and passengers Hari Maya Rokaya, 41, Junakiri Rokaya, 70, Anjana Rokaya, 28, and Agman Nagarkoti, 9, all from the same locality.
Efforts are underway to locate Diwash Rokaya, with a search team deployed to the accident site.
