Koshi State leads in violent crimes among 7 states, police reports
In contrast, Karnali State had the lowest number of violent offenses.
KATHMANDU: As per the annual progress report released by the Nepal Police, Koshi Province has recorded the highest number of violent crimes among the seven states.
During a program on Thursday, Nepal Police released their annual progress report, indicating a total of 59,061 cases filed in the past year, with 5,150 categorized as violent crimes including murder, rape, murder after rape, human trafficking, and theft.
Koshi State reported the highest number of such crimes, with 1,066 cases, followed by 312 in Gandaki State.
In contrast, Karnali State had the lowest number of violent offenses.
According to police data, 166 instances are recorded per day in Nepal.
The report also highlights a prevalence of cases concerning women and children in Madhesh State.
